A Winter Afternoon

And then there were the two of them

Not against the world

But themselves,

And they sat under the sun

one winter afternoon

With nothing but silence between them

He knew what she wanted to hear

She knew he would never feel it.

Maybe it was selfish on her part

To want to hear it so bad

He said it like he meant it

And then she realized why silence was better,

Always better than words, anyway.

Wow, I read this twice pretty girl and each time it got more beautiful. I loved it and it really made me think about the emotion that goes into words, like you put into yours. Loved it! 😍

Words are all we have got in the end. To express. The fact that it connected with you, means a lot. Thank you for the kind words, W.
